1:28 a.m. Just got back from
a big Christmas shindig and I have to say that a Christmas
party can be much more fun than any other kind of party.
People dress up, the rooms are decorated, there are little
lights twinkling, and there is plenty of good cheer.
That being said, I'll be brief. Actually, I'm pretty much
all talked out. I really enjoy talking to people, truth be
known. There are a lot more computer people at parties these
days, and that's fun. Unix people. Start-up people.
People who are leaving the computer business in droves --
for the garment industry, for law, to go back to teaching,
to go back to the land. Just as well; just in time.
For me, I'm going to leave the computer (this one) and go
to bed. Since I can't pin specific tales on people who might
recognize themselves, I'm only talking in circles
anyway.
But, I got a great lead on a group that meets in Venice a
couple times a month to work through Finnegan's Wake.
They've taken the entire year to get up to, maybe, page 130.
My kind of readers.
Thus inspired, I think I'll speed through another couple
pages of Valis.
See you tomorrow.
