10:27 a.m. Might as well use up the last bright red picture that I have in my little supply stash. Just in time. I think it looks quite nice with all the hearts, and it will clash with tomorrow's new, improved color palette, now that I know what tomorrow's new and improved design will look like. Not that I leave things until the last moment, no.

And, if you think the way I try to use up photos is bad, you should be glad I'm not feeding you. Tonight I would be trying to push some leftover straw mushrooms, some potatoes and carrots from a couple of days ago, and some soy milk that isn't getting any younger.

Which is probably why Igor just happened to come home with a nice rotisserie chicken tonight. Tomorrow I might make chicken soup from the leftovers of tonight's feast, and so on and on it goes.

In fact, let's do some end-of-the-month abstract leftovers, why don't we? Here are a bunch of things that have been on my mind all month, but none of which, when viewed alone, would make a complete meal or entry all by themselves. To whit:

  • it won't seem to stop raining
  • low on photos
  • can't talk about teeth anymore
  • nor filing
  • nor finances
  • how about TV?
  • don't like wrestling, Temptation Island, ER, West Wing
  • Jewelbox? please.
  • dieting? Now there's a fresh topic

It's true that there was a big earthquake in Seattle today and it's also true that I watched a little TV about it -- enough to make me jumpy and non-serious the rest of the day. I'm easily excitable.

Still on the Philip K. Dick thing late at night, and I'm enjoying myself immensely. I took a break and read a forgettable novel inbetween, but last night I started in on Ubik, and I'm glad to be back into Dick's very muddled, strange imagination.

Also, my little storefront stuff is coming along. Today I finally, with the help of a kind reader, managed to get an upload to download. This means that I'm pretty much on my way. That bit of http derring-do was the last logjam before ... before the next one, I suppose. But it felt very, very good to achieve the magic of "press here" and have something actually transpire.

What else is hanging loose? Camera, rain, weight. Weight. Must lose it. Dinner -- must stop cooking good food. Can't enjoy food so much. I've got a special mouthrinse from the dentist that actually makes food taste bad, and maybe that will help.

1:11 a.m. If I weren't creating an ode to fragmentation here, I'd erase that last paragraph, of course. But I'm tying up loose ends and closing out the month ... the last real month of winter, and good riddance, I say.

The days are already noticeably longer and as I gain in strength and power and understanding, I will once again try to figure out how to do winter better next time ... or at least do it before it does me.

So, that will do it for February. And not a minute too soon.
