1:04 a.m. Today has turned out to be a wonderful, wonderful day, even though it was a day marked with a dental appointment. But even that didn't matter -- not today. My sister came through her operation like a champ, with flying colors, even faster than was to be expected. That's a huge sigh of relief. And then, while I was in the dentist's chair, cooling my heels and letting the cement dry, I turned on the convenient teeny television set to pass the time and heard about the bad Navy news from Kuwait. One of my nephews is in Kuwait, the son of my littlest sister. She's the one who takes the beautiful photos that you see here on the website, including the "tomorrow" page. Again: lucky. happy news -- he's ok. Out of harm's way. What a day, we've all been saying to one another -- what a day. As for the dentist, I'm glad to report that it was more interesting than terrifying. Someone had canceled an appointment with the hygienist and since she had an open place in her schedule, they asked me if I'd like to start my cleaning regimen early -- since I was already there. Oh, boy. Would I. It means one whole less trip back there. I was very very happy to seize this new opportunity for pain, and more pain. However, when she asked me how long it had been, she was most certainly taken aback. I would have thought they'd scrawl "25 years!!!!" in red magic marker across my file, but it seems something of a secret. Poor lady. We made light conversation and she did the job on half my mouth. I go back Thursday for the other half, with hardly enough time for worry in-between. I also have a nice new crown/bridge set of fancy teeth where there was only throbbing pain before. No needles today, either. An all-round peach of a day. |
