p.m. Last
night's radio program was about creativity. I was trying to
listen to it around the heavy alien buzz that my computer
makes when it is restarted. More buzzing from the
desktop-rebuild procedure, and then the voice on the radio
comes back in, tuned in from the static as if my radio were
an old 1944 console and I was a citizen at war trying to
hear every important word.
Sadly, I lost the entire week's worth of work in several
nasty crashes. From the tattered remnants of the radio
program, I've gathered the advice that a creative person has
to take care of personal security before he or she can make
art and I know it's not very creative to say this, but
Duh.
I shouldn't be too harsh, because it's all my own fault,
really. Art, commerce, making a living, making a statement,
making a difference ... getting my priorities in order and
making sure the electric bill is paid before I stare off
into the distance. I know I've created all the elements in
this particular moment so that I can practice juggling
certain sharp realities.
Juggling is a little-appreciated art form.
Meanwhile, I've created some new pages for the lovely
month of May and I don't know for sure if I'm going to keep
the little bugs at the top of these entries, cute as they
are. They might very easily begin to get on my nerves. As my
mother always says: "We'll see."
We'll see.
We'll wait and see what this month brings, both financial
as well as creative.
Waiting is another little-appreciated art form.
As is spinning in place without losing your place. The
secret is to keep your eye on a single, unmoving object in
the distance. That object is your sacred mission, and you
must never let it out of your sight. Otherwise, you could
get dizzy and -- you know -- fall off the planet by
mistake.
