10:20 p.m. At least I have a darn fine photo to post today -- it's one of my favorites. What's pictured here is a very typical street in Venice in the late spring. Swoon! It's busting out all over.

And I even managed to get outside for a little bit today, even out to my own street to do a little cleanup and a little sweeping. The real truth is that I was getting very close to punching in the computer screen in frustration, so I thought it best to get away for a little while.

Let's just say that I make a lousy programmer and let's just leave it at that. Let's assume that I'm trying very, very hard ... with very little to show for it ... yet.

That's why I decided to do something that would show actual results, and so I finally got around to re-potting all the plants that have been silently and patiently suffering in their crowded pots. I could hear them moaning.

I even managed to get an avocado tree that I've grown from the seed out of the big pot to which it had become welded. Citrus and gardenia and impatiens ... all breathing more easily tonight, and for that, I'm quite proud.

Now I turn back to the mess at the server end, where the CGI files are. I go back into the coal mine at the bottom of the web and pick pick pick some more at the black, impenetrable code.

If I skip a day or two or three in the next few days -- not to worry.

I'll be back ...
