11:18 p.m. I'm exhausted, as I should be. I've done a lot of extra food preparation today and let me tell you -- I was really glad to finally be able to sit down and drink glass after glass of kosher wine.

All for a noble cause.

I made: chicken soup with matzo balls, a nice fresh haroseth, and a fabulous shepherd's lamb pie, all of which required peeling, chopping, mincing, and even more slicing, dicing, and all of that over again. Stirred, simmered, sautéed.

Hours standing in front of the pots and the sink, and by the time it's all done and the golden plates are laid on the table, I was ready for a nap.

However, I remained upright and righteous and said my part of the prayers and I very faithfully drank every last drop of wine that was poured for me. It's what you have to do.

Now ... now that the kitchen is all cleaned up and everyone is ready to go back in and start picking at the leftovers ... now ... I'm going to quietly crawl to bed, thank you very much.

Some days I feel as if I've earned it. Shalom.
